Trappist beers
La Trappe is brewed in a traditional way, according to a recipe developed by the Trappist monks of Koningshoeven. Obviously, natural ingredients are used, such as hops, barley malt and yeast. The brewery gets the water for the beer from its own source. The yeasting process is done with a type of yeast that is most active at 18 to 20 degrees Celsius. This type of yeasting is known as ‘top yeasting’. The beer is bottled with yeast and sugar, which allows La Trappe to continue yeasting in the bottle, so a unique aroma develops.
Seven special beers
Under the brand name La Trappe, Beer Brewery De Koningshoeven markets seven special beers. From 2001 until 2010 La Trappe was marketed in the USA and Canada under the name 'Koningshoeven Trappist Ale'. Starting spring 2010 you will start finding La Trappe in North America again.
Jubilee beer
The Beer Brewery de Koningshoeven celebrated its 125 anniversary in 2009. For the occasion, La Trappe Isid’or has been developed. With this jubelee beer the brewery supported the construction of a new Trappist abbey in Uganda. In 2010 we decided to keep brewing La Trappe Isid'or after many requests.
